What to do in Puerto Cortes

There is quite a lot to do in and around Puerto Cortes.  There are great beaches all around like El Faro, Travesia, Playa municipal and Bajamar.   There are always restaurants and bars near the beaches where your can enjoy some great food and drinks.

- Visit a soccer game of the local professional team Platense

- Take a boatride on the Alvarado lake

- Visit one of the local bars to meet the locals

- Visit the fishmarket in the morning

- Take a tour in the biggest seaport of Central America

- Check out the waterfalls

- Take a tour to one of the coffee or platano farms

- Visit a local public school

- Go fishing

- Visit the zoo

- Take a tour to San Pedro Sula

- Take a tour to Puerto Barrios (Guatemala)

- Visit one of the Garifuna villages

- Take a ferry to Belize

Puerto Cortes

Puerto Cortés is located along the Atlantic coast, in the department of Cortés. It has boundaries with San Pedro Sula, Omoa and the Atlantic Ocean. The distance traveled from Tegucigalpa is 299 km (186 miles aprox.), From San Pedro Sula it is 55 km (34 miles approx.) And if you decide to continue on towards Omoa, the total distance is 68 km (42 miles approx.).
